Chamber FAQs

What is the Chamber?

The Chamber of Commerce is a private, not-for-profit organization made up of members who pool their resources to improve the local quality of life and build a strong, healthy economy in North Pole and the surrounding community.

What does the Chamber do?

The Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary organization organized for the purpose of advancing the civic, commercial, industrial, economic, social, and general interest of the people of North Pole and the surrounding communities.  It encourages the growth of existing industries and businesses, while giving proper assistance to any new firms or businesses seeking to locate in the area.  It supports all activities believed to be beneficial to the community and opposes those which might be detrimental.  It is designed to determine the needs and accomplish the goals of the business community.  It serves as a legislative representative, an information bureau, and a business resource tool.

Why be a Chamber Member?

Many members may be either unaware of the benefits of being a Chamber member, or may not be using their membership to its fullest potential.  Chamber membership is an investment in yourself, your business, and your community.  By being a member, you have the opportunity to effect a positive change on the quality of life in the area in which you have chosen to live, perhaps raise a family, and/or conduct a business—in effect, to put a little back in to your community.  Businesses should not just join the Chamber of Commerce, they should buy into it, investing in themselves and in their community.  The benefits of Chamber membership are both tangible (networking, advertising, referrals, seminars, etc.) and intangible (advocacy, economic development, quality of life, etc.).

What if my business is not located in North Pole?
Just because your business is not located in North Pole does not mean you won’t benefit by being a member.  Just a few of the ways your business may benefit include:

Besides joining, how can I get more involved?
One of the best ways you can get more involved is by participating on a Chamber committee.  Chamber committee involvement offers members an excellent opportunity to take an active role in planning and implementing programs and strategies to achieve the Chamber’s goals.  While participating on committees, you will be networking with other members, increasing the visibility of your company name and ultimately enhancing the effectiveness of your Chamber membership, all the while benefiting your community.

Sponsorship of a Chamber event is another good way to get involved with the Chamber.  The Chamber has a number of sponsorship opportunities that can greatly benefit your business by having your business associated with something popular and beneficial to the community.  Sponsor name and logo placement in pre-event publicity, during the event on printed materials and signs, and in post-event press coverage can help increase your name recognition and reaffirm your positive image in the community.

Another way to get involved is to volunteer at the Visitor Information Cabin in the summer.  This is a very rewarding job that involves greeting visitors and giving information about our area attractions and services.
