LOCAL PARKS & TRAILS
Terry Memorial Park: Located at the corner of Santa Claus Lane and 5th Ave. in North
Pole featuring a large grassy area with a pavillion, picnic tables, and children's
playground.
North Pole Park & Monument: Home for our "historic" red and white pole,
located on 5th Ave. The story goes that the pole was made by the Northern Commercial
Machine Shop in the 1950s and dropped off at the magnetic North Pole by airmen from Eielson
AFB, presumably to make it "geographically authentic." Sometime later the
pole was retrieved from up north, lost, and later rescued from a local junk yard. It
was finally spruced up and erected at its present location in the North Pole Park, which also features playground equipment, picnic tables, and access to Beaver Springs Nature Trail.
Beaver Springs Trail: The trailhead starts near North Pole City Hall on Snowman Lane and ends at the North Pole Park on 5th Ave. It is approximately .5 miles in length and offers a refreshing walk through a typical northern conifer forest.
